Programme for Two Year Olds (P2YO)

• This Pilot programme for two year olds has been introduced by the Department of Education and the Early Years Organisation for Young Children. Two year olds develop at a rapid rate and this programme aims to recognise 2 year olds full potential to develop their skills and development. The programme is based through play to allow the children to freely discover and explore their environment for themselves and with other children to develop emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. The programme works with the children, their families, the staff members and the local community.
• When the programme is up and running the children attending will have a four day week.
- The children will attend 3 play sessions per week. A play session will last for 2 hours a day
- On the 4th day there will be a parent involvement day with both the child and parent
- Another element of the programme is home visits to the child’s home
• At the moment the staff members are completing training on the two year old programme. The training is being carried out by Clogher Valley Sure Start at Ballysaggart Business Park in Dungannon. The training is over eight weeks and covers the eight key elements of the two year old programme.
