‘To Provide Early Years Childcare through a friendly, secure and stimulating environment’

First Steps Women's Centre is in the process of renovating offices upstairs for a new Childcare facility available for children from 6 weeks  to 4 years. The new facilities will be named "Little Steps" and "Tiny Steps".

We provide Childcare for ladies attending training courses in First Steps Women’s Centre and follow the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ Curriculum. All staff members have the knowledge, understanding and qualifications to provide a stimulating and educational environment for the children's development, with the awareness to recognise each child as an individual and each will progress and develop at their own pace.

First Steps Childcare is a group play/facility for children whose parents or carers are involved in a training course at the Centre.  (We are not open to the wider public.)

We provide resources for balanced and varied opportunities of play.  We also provide a caring and safe learning environment where guidelines are implemented in encouraging personal development and mutual understanding through promoting positive behaviour in both adults and children.

We promote equality and respect for one another by not discriminating against any staff member, child or parent/carer attending the setting on the grounds of their culture, gender, race, religion or disability.

We aim to create a positive self-image in all children by giving value to each individual child, ensuring all children learn to value and respect one another.

•  Staff promote positive behaviour and some are trained in Special Needs and Managing Challenging Behaviour
•   All staff are minimum NVQ 2 Children’s Care (or equivalent) trained
•   Staff adhere to 35 Policies which are childcare specific as well as First Steps Women’s Centre (FSWC) organisational policies
•   All staff is trained in First Aid and Child Protection and most in Food Hygiene

Indoor and outdoor Health and Safety Checks are completed daily in compliance to a detailed Risk Assessment document

First Steps Women's Centre creche is on site at it's Dungannon premises and is presently being renovated to increase the capacity from 10 to 16 children per session, two sessions per day.  It can cater for children aged from 6 weeks to 4 years old.
